Refugees & Immigrants

Refugees & Immigrants

People from all over the world move to the United States to start a new life and new immigrants enrich our cities. But with immigration, the challenges of settlement and adjustment can be overwhelming without the proper support.

Making a home in a new county with a different culture is challenging. Many immigrants find that it takes a long time to get a good job in their chosen field. Many immigrants find other work to make money while they try to get jobs in their field.

Refugees and Immigrants face difficulties that are often exacerbated by standard mainstream systems of care due to major access problems including language barriers, unfamiliarity with U.S. culture and workplace protocols, financial constraints, limitations of insurance coverage, lack of adequate translators at agencies, and cultural sensitivity issues.

There are many things you can do to get a job in your field or get started in a new field and many organizations that can help you find employment.
